Fort Lauderdale
Chair yoga in Fort Lauderdale.
Chair yoga brings all the benefits of traditional yoga, enhanced circulation, joint mobility, mindfulness, and postural support, without requiring you to get up and down from the floor. It is an ideal practice for individuals recovering from surgery, desk workers seeking workplace relief, seniors, and anyone managing limited mobility.
Using a stable chair as support, you practice gentle stretches, joint opening, and focused breathing exercises tailored to your current energy and strength. Every movement has a version for where you are today, and you can stay seated the entire time or use the chair for balance while standing. Nothing is mandatory, and you can rest whenever you need to.
Sara Grossman offers gentle and inclusive chair yoga instruction built on the Krishnamacharya lineage. Her classes are trauma-informed, which means choice in every pose, no hands-on adjustment without consent, and a predictable, calm structure. You can read more about Sara Grossman and her approach to keeping the practice available to everyone.
Sessions can be conducted privately in your home, at workplaces for corporate wellness programs, or in small group settings across Fort Lauderdale and Broward County. Sara comes to you, so you do not have to travel or navigate a studio space that does not suit your needs. Tell her your space, your goals, and any limitations, and she will build the session around you.
You do not need any experience, special clothing, or equipment beyond a sturdy chair. Wear clothes you can move in and have water nearby. If you are managing a medical condition or recovering from surgery, a 15-minute call with Sara before you start is a good way to make sure the practice meets you where you are.
Your first class is free. Studio classes are also available at Prana Hot Yoga and Bodyworks on SE 17th St, and there is a live Monday morning Zoom class at 9 am Eastern for those who prefer to practice from home. Fill in one short form and Sara texts you within the hour.
