Fort Lauderdale
Trauma-informed yoga in Fort Lauderdale.
Trauma-informed yoga is centered on safety, autonomy, and body agency. In practice, this means you are given explicit choices in every single pose, with zero pressure to look or move a certain way. There are no hands-on physical adjustments without prior consent, and you always have full permission to rest or modify shapes whenever your body asks for it.
Classes follow a predictable, clear structure without sudden surprises or forced eyes-closed moments. The language is plain, the pace is unhurried, and the room is set up so you can see the door and feel oriented the whole time. Whether you are navigating stress, medical recovery, or life transitions, this practice invites you to reconnect with your breath on your own terms.
Sara Grossman specializes in trauma-informed methodology. Her training in the Krishnamacharya lineage means the physical practice is intelligent and progressive, but the way it is delivered is what makes it trauma-informed. She watches the room, offers options instead of commands, and never singles anyone out. You can read more about Sara Grossman and her approach to trauma-informed yoga for students and first responders.
You do not need to be flexible, experienced, or ready to share anything about yourself. You do not need to close your eyes if you do not want to. You need a mat if you have one, water, and clothes you can move in. Mats and props are available at the studio, and private sessions are available if you would rather start one-to-one.
Studio classes take place at Prana Hot Yoga and Bodyworks on SE 17th St, with Yin on Monday and Wednesday evenings and Heated Vinyasa on Friday evening. There is also a live Monday morning Zoom class at 9 am Eastern. If a group setting feels like too much right now, start with a 15-minute call and Sara will help you find the right entry point.
Your first class is free. Tell Sara when you arrive that you are new, and she will keep an eye on you the whole time. Nothing in class is mandatory, and you can step out or rest at any point without explanation.
